On 20 October 2010 WOFAN & USAID commission 137 compartment of VIP
latrines, 100 urinals and 49 water systems including hand pump boreholes
in 21 communities in 3 LGAs (Alkaleri, Bauchi & Ningi LGAs) of Bauchi
State. While making presentation on the project status, the Executive
Director of WOFAN Hajia Dr Salamatu Garba stated that the project has
remarkably earned the support of all the tires of government at state,
LGA and community level. It has also recieved the blessings and
participation of our traditional and religious leaders in adopting
strategies to reducing the burden associated with water and sanitation
in the targeted schools and communities in Bauchi State.

She further commended the effort of the state RUWASA and SUBEB for all
the technical support during the course of the project particularly in
relation to the 225 community members that WOFAN trained on hand pump
repairs and maintenance so that the thousands of non-functioning
boreholes grounded in various communities can be rehabilitated.
In order to complement the effort of WOFAN, SUBEB Bauchi under its
Honorable Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Dabo purchased hand pump repairs
tools for all the trained youths in all 21 locations of the project
site. Hajia Salamatu Garba acknowledged it is the first of its kind for
SUBEB to make such intervention, and called on others to learn from
them.
